A Menstrual Hygiene Initiative generously supported by the Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by Auxilium Skills Academy is leading a Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) initiative in underserved urban communities. The project addresses the stigma around menstruation, poor hygiene, and lack of access to sanitary products, thereby aiming to improve health, dignity, and empowerment for women and girls.

Through this project Vending Machines are being placed in colleges, work sites, and toilets for affordable product access. Monthly checks of all machines are done to ensure they are well-maintained, functioning effectively, and regularly restocked with supplies. Hygiene kits containing basic hygiene supplies are being distributed to vulnerable women and girls. Sanitary Napkin Incinerators are also being installed in public spaces for safe, hygienic disposal.

Informative and culturally sensitive materials along with workshops and Awareness Campaigns are being developed and implemented  to educate through community sessions, school programs, and street plays. This helps destigmatize menstruation and teach women and girls on menstrual hygiene management, reproductive health, and sustainable practices.

This project is being implemented with a strong focus on community participation. Local women’s groups, youth volunteers, and students, help implement and monitor the project. The initiative promotes a replicable, gender-sensitive sanitation model for broader impact in both urban and rural settings.
